Do banks ever prejudice against people in small towns?

I applied for a home equity loan and was flat out denied. I looked up my credit rating on the internet and I am right between 710 and 720. I get credit card offers a lot and I have no debt other than my car payment. I own my own home. It has no loans against it. It was given to me by my dad about 10 years ago. What is the problem with a home equity line of credit for me?

I have a checking account with this bank x 10 years. I keep most of my savings in a credit union account.

You need to check with your bank. Dicrimation in any form is illegal in the banking industry.

I%26#039;ve never had luck with bank loans and always depend on my credit union coming through for me....and they always have....banks denied me twice before I never tried again...I%26#039;ve never been denied by my credit union and give them as much business as I can now!|||It%26#039;s not the bank that is prejudice, its people that work there. They know their way around the system and know the loop holes to get you a line of credit or a loan, and they know the same loop holes to make it to where you can%26#039;t . Sometimes for whatever problem the banker is having in their life, they will choose themselfs not to help you get the loan/credit you need.|||How much do you make per month vs. the tax/insurance on the house and the car payment? The first likely indication is that they don%26#039;t think you make enough to repay the loan. There may be other issues, but there isn%26#039;t enough detail here to suggest anything else.
