Working for tghe nhs is getting worse?

I work as a nurse for Grampian Trust Nhs. We have now been told that if we want to work any overtime we have to join the bank nursing...this is to work in our own ward.

This means that we get paid what bank nurses do....about 锟? less an hour and we are now taxed at a higher rate on our overtime.

Is it worth it I ask for trying to earn a decent wage. Is this the same in all the Nhs trusts or just up here?

No wonder i%26#039;m thinking of leaving.

I think it%26#039;s happening all over. A few years ago I worked for the NHS at our local hospital, long hours, mediocre pay and constantly understaffed. I then left to work in private nursing for an agency. The money was very good and as everywhere is understaffed there is always work. However, to be honest I got tired of nursing, it wore me out and I ended up leaving approx 2 yrs ago.

PS, my daughters friend is a cleaner at the local hospital and she gets paid more than the nursing assistants who work there.

I%26#039;m a nurse myself and I don%26#039;t think we get paid enough. For all the mental work and organization and patient care, I think more money would be better. There is such a shortage of Nurses that if they don%26#039;t start paying more there may always be a shortage. Paying you less money is even worse. Maybe look for another job that pays you more,
